Introduction
Government
Shipping Office was established at Karachi Port on 21 May 1948.
This was originally a sub-ordinate office of the Ministry of
Commerce, and was later placed under the administrative control
of the Ports and Shipping Wing, Karachi (Ministry of
Communications).
It
is now working under section 6 of Ordinance No. L II of 2001
dated 3rd October 2001 known as Pakistan Merchant
Shipping Ordinance 2001.
The
Government Shipping Office headed by the Shipping Master is
located at Keamari Karachi and functions under the office of the
Director General, Port & Shipping, Ministry of
Communications.
