Admission  to 49th Batch

 (January 2011-Dec 2012)


INDUCTION AS NAUTICAL / ENGINEERING CADET
          

The applications are invited through advertisements in the national press in June/July every year. The induction is conditional to eligibility, merit, medical fitness and other criteria established by the Government of Pakistan.

CADETS FROM FRIENDLY COUNTRIES 
          Cadets from friendly countries are admitted on        Government-to-Government arrangement, subject to the availability of seats.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY
          Only male citizens of Islamic Republic of Pakistan are eligible to apply. Applicant must not be more than 20 years of age on 31st December of the year in which applying for admission. This, however, is relaxable by one year for candidates from Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) and Azad Kashmir.

SCHOLASTIC REQUIREMENTS
            An applicant must have passed (in at least second division) Higher Secondary School Certificate in Pre-Engineering or General Science with Physics and Computer Science ,  from any of the Board of Higher Secondary Education (Intermediate) in Pakistan. Recognized equivalent qualification are acceptable as determined in accordance with rules approved by the Government of Pakistan.

ENTRANCE TEST
            An Entrance Test will be conducted in major cities of the country on the date announced in the advertisement. The Entrance Test will contain  questions of HSc standard in Mathematics, Physics and English. In addition an IQ Test will also be included in the entrance test.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION
            The candidates will have to undergo medical examinations at their own expense in Pakistan Military Hospitals as designated by the Academy.

Note: -        Candidates will have to undergo "eye-sight and colour perception tests" arranged by Mercantile Marine Department (Ports and Shipping Wing) of Ministry of Ports and Shipping Karachi after the final selection. These tests will be in addition to the normal medical examinations. Failures of this test will not be eligible for admission in PMA.

 Total training charges for 2 years course amount to Rs.204100/-. This include Rs.44775/- per semester as fees and other charges.

Cadets are required to pay Rs.25000/- as one time charges at the time of admission. Deck / Nautical Cadets will be charged an amount of Rs.4000 /- for Seamen Service Book (SSB) with 4th term fees 

POST SEA COURSES

            Besides the training of cadets, Academy also conducts post sea and mandatory courses that are important for career progression of prospective and in service seafarers.

AWARD OF DEGREE

            On completion of training at PMA, the Karachi University awards B.Sc. degree in Maritime Studies to the Nautical Cadets & Engineering Cadets. In addition the Ministry of Port and Shipping issues Seamen Service Book (SSB) to the successful candidates on completion of training

APPLICATION FORMS FOR CADETS SCHEME

              Candidates interested in this scheme can obtain Academy’s Brochure and Application Forms from the Cadets Training Co-ordination Office against payment of Rs.1500/-(by a pay order / bank draft) in the name of the Commandant Pakistan Marine Academy, NBP Mauripur Karachi with in presented dates announced in the newspapers. Information contained in the PMA brochure is also available on PMA website <http://marineacademy.edu.pk/>. The application forms may also be downloaded free of cost from the PMA website.

      APPLICATION FORMS FOR COURSES CONDUCTED AT SEAMEN TRAINING WING

      Forms for GP-III course. Application Forms for General Purpose Crew (GP-III) training are  available at the Seamen Training Wing against payment by a pay order/bank draft as and when the admissions are opened.

      Forms for Other Post Sea Courses. Application  Forms for other post sea courses are also available at the Seamen Training Wing. Prescribed fee for the form is payable in the form of pay order / bank draft in the name of the Commandant Pakistan Marine Academy.
